What kind of therapies are used?
In consultation with you, our experts will devise a programme designed specifically for you which will be continuously adjusted to your individual set of symptoms and your personal needs. As part of this, you can decide individually whether or not your programme will involve Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Mental training
Many of those affected find it difficult to understand what it means to suffer from Long COVID. The overall clinical picture often involves mental challenges. For this reason, the Clinic Bad Ragaz has now added intensive coaching by the mental trainer, Tina Dyck, to its overall holistic regeneration concept. The mental training will be adapted to your needs and is based on the latest findings in medicine, psychology, sport psychology and the natural sciences.
You will learn how to cope with setbacks, limitations and pressure. Targeted methods will enable you to control any negative thoughts and emotions that may arise, such as frustration, anxiety and disappointment. Mental training will help you preserve your self-determination and strength of will and also to achieve your personal goals.
The tools and strategies developed here will stay with you after your stay with us and you will be able to continue to use them in various situations.
Energy management training (EMT)
EMT is a therapy programme for patients suffering from fatigue. Fatigue means «significant tiredness» and covers symptoms such as chronic tiredness, exhaustion and difficulty concentrating.
Our specially trained occupational therapist will be guided by your energy levels throughout the therapy. Together you will identify strategies for positive and efficient management of your energy levels and learn how to set healthy and effective priorities. The aim is to show you how you can focus on the aspects of your life that generate energy. You also have the option of consulting our nutritionists to achieve a positive outcome for your energy balance.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
With Long COVID it is particularly important to boost the immune system. For maximum effect, at Clinic Bad Ragaz we have decided to incorporate the thousand-year-old therapeutic methods of Traditional Chinese Medicine into our rehab concept. In the course of TCM treatment you will be under the care of our specialist practitioners who run our MediQi practice in the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz. The aim of Traditional Chinese Medicine is to strengthen the individual’s self-healing powers.
In normal cases, the usual methods of therapy employed are acupuncture, cupping, Tui Na massages and Chinese remedies. If you have a fear of needles, we can offer you ear seeds and Chinese remedies as an alternative to acupuncture.
Neuropsychology
After a COVID-19 infection, patients are increasingly reporting problems with memory and concentration, as well as chronic exhaustion. These and other conditions, such as disorders involving speech, perception, as well as emotional experience are investigated in more detail and treated specifically in Neuropsychology.
Passive Therapy
Physical therapy has an important role in the overall medical programme. Passive therapies can often supplement, or even expand the therapeutic potential of various medical specialties. Physical therapy is wide-ranging and designed to alleviate pain and enable the body to regain its equilibrium. We can offer you a number of options in this area:
- Medical massage
- Acupressure massage
- Electrotherapy
- Foot reflexology massage
- Manual lymphatic drainage
- Ultrasound therapy
- Heat therapy
- Human Tecar
- Cupping
- Trigger point therapy
- Dry needling
Active Therapy
The aim of active therapy is to enhance and strengthen the patient’s resources. The therapies employed focus on any functional and activity deficiencies. Depending on the patient’s needs and stress levels, the following active therapies may be employed:
- Physiotherapy
- Alter-G treadmill (anti-gravity treadmill)
- C-Mill treadmill (a functional treadmill fitted with force plates with augmented und virtual reality)
- Med. training therapy
- SensoPro
- Water therapy
- Qi Gong
- Functional training
- MindMotion Go
Relaxation Therapies
Relaxation therapy is an essential element in the regeneration process and very important for the restoration of original strength levels.
The relaxation therapy that will produce the best results is determined for the patient on an individual basis. Jacobsen’s muscular relaxation technique, mindfulness training, meditative relaxation and HeartMath Biofeedback are all available. The bodily systems that normally function without our being aware of them, such as muscle tension, heart rate and breathing are measured in Biofeedback with the aid of sensors and electronic devices and relayed back to patients in the form of sounds and images.
